Florence
Julia Polack (Olszewski)
Okemos
Florence died on March 3, 2010.
She was born April 4, 1918 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Francis and Julia
Olszewski. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Martin
"Jack" Polack, Sr.; her parents; sisters, Martha (Harold) Kline, Margaret
(William) Alcombrach; brother, Louis Olszewski; and grandchildren, Jessica
Polack and Kathryn Polack. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis (Wallace)
Bradcoski; her sons, Barry (Mary), John Jr. (Linda), and Marty (Leslie); her
daughter, BJ (Larry) Gardner; and her 11 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren.
Though she worked at times at
the family business, the Polack Corporation, her greatest joy was found in her
family. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by a houseful of
milling family including screaming children. She loved traveling, but was
happier when she got home to her family and could see them around her at the
family parties. During the last two years, she lived at Bickford of Okemos under
the care of their wonderful staff. The family is especially grateful to them for
allowing her to have one last party with her on New Year’s Eve. We would also
like to thank the staff of In-House Hospice Solutions for their care of her
during the last six months.
The Funeral Mass will be
celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Jon Wehrle at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at
St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Okemos. The Rite of Committal will follow at
Deepdale Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the
Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.,
and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorial contributions
may be made to the Lansing Kiwanis Club or In-House Hospice Solutions.
